Why is accreditation important?

English as a Second Language Instructor (part-time)

SOLEX College, an independent, for-profit, post secondary institution located in Wheeling, IL is accepting applications for day, evening and weekend English as a Second Language (ESL) instructors for its Wheeling and Belmont Ave./Chicago locations.

Hours of instruction may vary from 8 to 32 contact hours per week depending on applicant availability. Courses meet from 9:00 to 1:30 Monday-Thursday, and 5:30 to 10:00 Monday-Thursday. Weekend courses are also available. Instructors may be assigned to teach ESL courses across all skill areas from low beginner to advanced, depending on current scheduling needs. Additional expectations include

  1. preparation of daily lessons;
  2. daily course instruction;
  3. conduct routine classroom management activities;
  4. timely submission of student attendance and scholastic records; and
  5. participate in faculty discussions of curriculum and instructional techniques/ materials.

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in ESL, linguistics, or related field with a 24 semester hours in the subject area; a combination of 4000 hours education and verified work experience teaching ESL or EFL; or 6000 hours verified work experience teaching ESL or EFL. Preferred qualifications: Master’s degree in ESL, TESOL, Linguistics or related field, and 3 or more years adult ESL teaching experience. Degrees must be from an accredited institution of higher education.
