Why is accreditation important?

English as a Second Language Instructor (part-time)

SOLEX College, an independent, for-profit, post-secondary institution located in Wheeling, IL is accepting applications for day, evening and weekend English as a Second Language (ESL) instructors for its Wheeling, Chicago Belmont, and Chicago Loop locations.

Hours of instruction may vary from 8 to 32 contact hours per week depending on applicant availability. Courses meet from 9:00 to 1:30 or 9:30 to 2:00 Monday-Thursday, and 5:30 to 10:00 Monday-Thursday. Instructors may be assigned to teach ESL courses across all skill areas from low beginner to advanced, depending on current scheduling needs.

Additional expectations include

  1. preparation of daily lessons;
  2. daily course instruction;
  3. conduct routine classroom management activities;
  4. timely submission of student attendance and scholastic records; and
  5. participate in faculty discussions of curriculum and instructional techniques/ materials.

Preferred qualifications: A master’s degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Linguistics, or related field and 2 or more years academic English language teaching experience are preferred.

Minimum qualifications: A bachelor’s degree and appropriate coursework in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or Linguistics is required. If the bachelor’s degree is not in these fields, candidates must have at least two years of related experience and/or coursework with evidence of specialized training or competency in the assigned teaching field, such as academic or vocational training and credentials, related work experience, licensure, and/or certification.

Degrees must be from an accredited institution of higher education. SOLEX College is accredited by ACICS and approved by PBVS Division of IBHE. SOLEX College is required to demonstrate and justify the qualifications of the faculty to teach their assigned courses.
