SOLEX College is accredited by the Accrediting Council of Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS).
Why is accreditation important?
You as an F-1 Visa Student are responsible for knowing, understanding, and following all laws that apply to you as a student during your stay in the United States. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is the section of the United States government that oversees immigration regulation. Unfortunately, DHS will not accept lack of knowledge of the regulations as an excuse for not maintaining your status and failure to maintain your status may have serious consequences.
Because it is unlikely you will be able to learn all details of all the regulations, you should seek advice from a knowledgeable source. The International Student Office is happy to help you, or you may also contact attorneys (who usually charge a fee) or DHS.
Remember, our Designated School Officials (DSOs) are trained to answer your questions, but your friends are not. Try not to operate on rumors you hear from other students when you have questions or concerns.
SOLEX College provides support services to students in achieving their educational and training objectives. This includes providing advice about immigration regulations, and this is not always an easy task. Don't be surprised to hear your DSO use words like "generally" or "usually" and phrases like "in most cases" and "as far as we know." The nature of the regulations simply does not always allow us to give 100% certain answers. Feel free to ask us for copies of regulations and related guides that may be of interest to you. Remember, in the end, you are the one held responsible for following the regulations so it is important to do everything you can to know and understand them.
Please remember that SOLEX College staff members are employees of the school and not DHS. We are, like you, subject to the agency's rules and regulations. DHS has granted us permission to enroll F-1 international students as long as we abide by their regulations, therefore we cannot accommodate requests that are outside of these regulations.
