The Intensive English Program helps students meet the varying academic needs associated with pursuing a university track. Students will learn an appropriate mix of academic, as well as functional English, while integrating skills to support learning and growth. The program is broken into 6 separate levels, utilizing custom textbooks and interactive group assignments to help students master the English Language.

Level up your English Language skills at SOLEX

  • Level 1: Students are introduced to the English language, and the focus is on everyday use.
  • Level 2: Students continue to focus on building foundations in social English, and apply what they learn to daily conversation.

  • Level 3: Students will work on strengthening grammar and conversational skills in an academic setting through reading and writing.
  • Level 4: The focus of the class shifts towards advanced academic content and vocabulary. Students will prepare for advanced English language learning with a stress on academia.

  • Level 5: Classes will begin to prepare students for higher academic pursuits and career paths. The focus is now on formal and advanced conversation.
  • Level 6: Students will experience more challenging content, with a focus on advanced conversational English. Projects, including speeches and presentations, are a part of this level.

Prepare to become comfortable with the English language and receive an ESL certificate.

Intensive English Program Plus (IEP+)

The objective of the Intensive English Program Plus is to meet the varying academic needs of students in new and creative ways. Similar to our Intensive English Program (IEP), this program is primarily meant to serve those students who are on a university track and wish to learn both academic and functional English and gain the skills to fit more easily into an English speaking society. Students will learn an appropriate mix of academic, as well as functional English, while integrating skills to support learning and growth.

  • 48 hours of additional study per level
  • Elective courses (like Pre-TOEFL or Pronunciation)
  • Weekly cultural trips associated to current lessons

The IEP+ is held in the heart of the city at our Downtown Chicago Campus Addition, and will give students a unique opportunity to practice their English language skills by visiting places such as: the Financial District Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower), the Field Museum, Navy Pier, and much more!
